• Virtual Reality: Beyond the Pokemon Go craze
  • A new series of podcasts on investing in technology

Goldman Sachs are calling it the “real deal” and predicting a $80bn market by 2025…

Deloitte are predicting a billion dollar in sales in 2016 alone…

I think we are in the early stage of a completely new internet — an internet of presence and experience that frees us from anti-social smart phones and desktop computing.

In prospect is what in 10-15 years time could be the world’s biggest industry — Artificial Reality — an industry that subsumes VR, MR <mixed reality>, AI, the Cloud and much else besides.

This week I am devoting the first in a new series of investment podcasts to Virtual Reality (in each of its guises).

Nominally titled Brain For Hire — this series will give investment professionals an informal summary of my latest research into new technology.

In this first episode, we look at the most promising companies working in VR/AR — including Facebook, Microsoft, Nvidia, Lenovo, Osterhaud Design Group, Huawei, Tencent and an extremely secretive company named Magic Leap.

And we also address some of the severe technological challenges that VR needs to overcome before its crosses the chasm to mainstream appeal.

And in a fortnights time, I will send you the next conversation I record with technology writer Eoin Gleeson on these nascent industries — with podcasts on AI, Robotics and Disruptive Medicine already in the pipeline.
